Strength Stability Chain Workout 2.0

Some gyms prefer to train stability and bracing like this…

We prefer to do it a little different….

Chain Stability and Loading (not all movements are stability related, but I have been looking for an opportunity to get the above video in! Nailed it.)

Chain Training Purpose

  • External loading (replacement for a weight vest)
  • Stability of core and shoulders
  • Accommodating resistance.
  • Workout variation and enjoyment

You can find the complete article that I submitted to Elitefts over in the Synergy Articles Section.

Chain Training 2.0 Video

==> I am dividing this video up into two parts based your feedback from Saturday’s newsletter.

This YouTube video contains the exercises minus the warm up and light weight sets.  Each exercise we started with 1 or 2 chains and progressed up for 2-5 sets.

The next video will be an explanation of the movements along with the lighter demonstrations.  I’ll try to get it out quickly as I am sure the YouTube haters will post tons of comments “duh, that’s now what chainz is 4.”

Where to Get Chains

  • Elitefts.com – Pair $85 plus shipping.
  • Ebay (search 5/8 chain) Pair shipped $90
  • Mcmaster.com (search 5/8 chain) $7.55 ft
  • Marine store or scrap yard surplus.  Call around.

If you found it anywhere else, please post it up in the comments (prices as of this post date).

==>Keep up the good fight and please rate the video 5 stars!<== Some people won’t understand the purpose, and will try to knock the innovation down. Your ratings will help!

Thanks for the support!

Joe

first of all love all your vidios definitly out of the box. you guys are beasts and im slightly obeast.i need to know when to do core. I ordered core steanth from you but I only got the coach interviews. I would like to order bullstrenght but can’t afford losing the product.I need to know how to put this all together to best train a 47 year old food server so I can keep going thanks again

  6. Maverick – Core goes at the end of the lower body days in the Bull Strength Template (pages 12-17). It explains what load and rep range to use.

I think you are referring to Combat Core for the second purchase – Jim Smith’s product. I will email you his contact info. Just email him about the manual, and that you only got the coaches interviews and he will help you out. Jim stands behind all his products.

    I hope that information helps!

Some hardware stores carry chains up to 1/2-might not be 5/8 but you can double them up ——-also rigging supply stores carry chains

  8. Alexis says:

Definitely 5 stars Coach!! I helped a neighbor do a big time home cleaning and found several chains that I’m going to use to train. Thank you for sharing the exercise ideas.

  9. Thanks for the rating Alexis! Good luck with the chains – let me know how it goes.

    Evening Joe,

Just a quick message to ask about the chains that you are using. Ive seen that your are using the 5/8 chain but what is the length of each of your chains? I assume you are using the same chains for benching, squatting, push-ups(accomodating resistence) etc… Also what chains and roughly how long are the chains that you use to attach them to the bar for benching and squatting?Differant lengths for certain athletes? Thanks Rich

  11. Admin says:

    Richard,

    Great questions.

Ours I believe are 5 ft long, I’ll have to double check that though. Same ones each time.

We also have 3/8 in guide chains, 5 feet long, and just adjust them to whatever we need. Very versatile.

  12. JR Cano says:

Picked up two 15ft long 3/8″ tow chains at Harbor Freight Tools today for $24.99 each! They are zinc coated forged steel so they are tough and rust resistant too! Can’t beat a pair for 50 bucks…..
