Huge Press for High School Freshman

A month back Jake landed his first 275 lb bench press. However, this is something that a lot of people have to see to believe.
It even boggles my mind. To go along with yesterday’s training mistake admission, I’ll share something else. I couldn’t bench this when I was a senior in high school.
I worked out a lot in high school, but I struggled to bench anything over 245. Why? I didn’t have an effective training program! Fortunately, I’ve put Jake on Bull Strength for about a year.

He was actually the first person, other than myself, to try the complete program.
Check out these cool results. Why “cool?” After years of fruitless training programs myself, It still amazes me how fast adaptions can take place when done correctly!
Jake – 13 Yr Old Bench Press 225 – February
Jake – 14 Yr Old bench Press 275 – August
Jake actually put up this a few months back, but “no video, no proof” they say on the internet, haha.
After this set he hit a drop set of 185 for 16 reps. That is 20 lbs MORE than his 1 RM max was when he started Bull Strength a year ago!
But I can’t take all the credit. Here is the NEVER FAIL WAY TO GAIN STRENGTH.
1. An effective program – Bull Strength for Jake.
2. Work hard and don’t miss training sessions.
For years in high school I just had #2. I can provide the program, but that hard work has to come from inside!
Also, if you wonder why Jake is benching 275 and some of my other 8th graders are still doing pushups, here it is – Youth and Strength Training.

Coach Hashey,
It looks like you have quite the “best” in training there, although for his age fully-fledge beast is probably more fitting.
It’s great to see a hard-working youngster show what can happen when effort meets intelligent programming, and the technique and quality on those efforts in the video say it all.
Kudos to you for supplying the guidance and to Jake for busting his butt to make it happen.
Thanks Jack.
Jake tested out Saturday at 295, last testing day before the football season. Its all just numbers though unless it converts to the field!
Funny, he left the gym muttering “I’ll get 300 next lift….” all bitter about 295, haha.
But Jack hit the nail on the head, the form and programing is SO important. Especially the form. Just search high school bench on youtube and see what you get!
Thanks for taking the time to comment Jack, I truly appreciate it.
Joe
His form has improved too. Looks good!
Nice work Jake!
Joe, what was Jake’s starting BW and what is his current BW?
JR and Smitty – thanks.
JR, I believe (Ill have to check my records) but he came in at 180 and is currently 240. After double sessions he will be playing around 230 lbs. The kid is awesome to work with, as are all the guys.
