First off, thank you for keeping up, rating, and posting comments on my 30 videos in 30 days challenge on YouTube. I have a big post today!
Second, here is today’s video, heavy mace swings. Jedd Johnson of the Diesel Crew brought his mace that was packed with shot. The thing must have weighed at least 60-70 lbs, which might not sound like much, but its a different animal when its swinging around your head!
The mace is a great training tool. I use mine (loaded to a much lighter weight) at end of workouts for the athletes. Maces (what the heck is the plural of mace???) are great for hitting the shoulders, core, back, and arms.
Check out the video and the form explanation - Mace Swings
Very hard! Jedd and I actually have a Homemade Training Equipment DVD due out shortly. I believe this is the first time I am mentioning it, because we have a crazy creative homemade mace idea in it. It took us about 15 minutes and under $5 to make our own mace. STAY TUNED FOR DETAILS ON THAT!

Next, I would like to formally welcome a new member to the Synergy Athletics training tool bin. I picked her up today…

How heavy is it? Heavy enough that I required foam rolling, a protein shake, and a nap just from unloading it off of the trailer! I’ll try to find a chart online for the weight, but it has to be around 800 lbs.

Where did you find the tire? I have been looking all over for some but can not find any. Know this, that I live in a rural area with mainly farm tires. I have been able to get some tractor tires, but they are not as heavy as industrial tires. Thanks!
Jeff,
Shoot me the town name and I will see what I can come up with.
I basically searched “tractor tires” on yahoo local, found a place, called them up and asked if they had any scrap tires I could have. They charged me $2.70, something about insurance, although most places are free.
Joe
I’d like to see that chart for tire weights when you find it!
John, Here you go. Smitty put a post up about it. It has some on there, but not mine.

Thanks, Joe.. I doubt the tire at the facility I work at is any heavier than 500 lbs… Would like to get my hands on a couple more! Need to make a trip to the tire yard soon!
