Get Your Back Strong! Rocket Pull Ups
In Rocket Pull Ups Part One I explained the fast variation to utilize the elastic nature of muscles.
This muscle building video uses a different concept all together. Even though the pull up movement is essentially performed the same way, the tempo alters the muscle training effect significantly.
Here’s the concept. We can lower things easier than we can pick things up. Its just how muscles works. Here is an example – which is more difficult lifting a couch up, or putting it down slowly? Putting it down is much easier.
Slowing the old rocket down!
Another example from the gym. Can you lower more weight on a bench press, or press more weight up? Lowering of course.
Rocket Pull Ups, slow variation, takes advantage of that characteristic of muscles – overloading the negative portion.
Long explanation for such a simple movement!
SIMPLE EXPLANATION – Add more weight on the negative portion, you can lift more during that phase.
In the Rocket Pull Ups Video, we use a sandbag that is roughly 35 lbs. I prefer the sandbag because it is larger and easy to put on the legs, however you may use a dumbbell in the gym to achieve the same results.
